Kaspersky Lab has announced the results of the third regional round of its international student conference “Cybersecurity for the Next Generation 2013” that took place recently in Yerevan, Armenia.
”Cybersecurity for the Next Generation” is a long-term project financed and organized by Kaspersky Lab. The project involves an annual series of regional student conferences that aim to raise awareness of IT security issues and identify gifted young people studying in this sphere. The conference reflects Kaspersky Lab’s commitment to sharing its expertize with the younger generation. The winners of the regional rounds receive monetary prizes as well as an excellent opportunity to showcase their skills to one of the IT security market’s global leaders.
The Russia and CIS round took place on February 20–22 at the State Engineering University of Armenia, in cooperation with the Faculty of Computer Systems and Informatics.
When choosing the winners the program committee of leading Kaspersky Lab analysts, professors and IT security industry experts looked for the most strategically important, comprehensive student papers which also offered practical value. The winners received cash prizes as well as an invitation to take part in the global finals of the ‘CyberSecurity for the Next Generation’ conference.
This year’s winners of the Russia and CIS round are:
- For the best paper: Vahram Darbinyan - “Detecting DDoS attacks on digital publication hosting services”;
- For the best presentation: Zhanna Grigoryan - “User-friendly email agent for encrypted communication”;
- For innovation and originality: Vladimir Hovsepyan - “Web Application for investigation and analysis of asymmetric cryptographic algorithms”;
- For the project with the most practical value: Maxim Shudrak - “A new technique and tool for vulnerabilities detection in binary executables”.
The winner of the round Vahram Darbinyan has a chance to represent his project in frames of the finals of the “Cybersecurity for the Next Generation” which will be held in the UK at the Royal Holloway, University of London in June 2013.
