Kaspersky Lab is pleased to announce that Kaspersky Internet Security, its security solution for home users, scored higher than any of the other eight products participating in the Home Anti-Virus Protection test in Q3 2013. The test was conducted by the independent Dennis Technology Labs.
Kaspersky Lab’s product earned the highest possible AAA rating, with a total of 1040 points — just eight points shy of the total possible maximum. The overall rating is based on the performance results of products in a series of real-world scenarios that users are likely to encounter. The testing also uses malware that is prevalent at the time of testing.
In the Protection Ratings scenario, in which the effectiveness of a product’s anti-malware protection is measured, Kaspersky Lab’s solution earned 300 points. That is the highest possible score, an achievement none of the other competing products were able to match.
In the Legitimate Software Ratings test, which shows how security software programs affect the performance of legitimate applications, Kaspersky Internet Security earned 740 points, which is considerably higher than the average result achieved by the other test participants (688). Furthermore, the Kaspersky Lab product did not generate a single false positive.
The tests were conducted on a system running a 64-bit version of Windows 7 Home Premium SP1. The test computers had popular software programs installed that are frequently the targets of malicious users, such as Adobe Flash Player, Adobe Reader, and Oracle Java.
“Based on the Dennis Technology Labs test results, we can see how a security solution behaves in conditions that are as true-to-life as possible. These tests use actual threats that users risk facing on the Internet. The ratings awarded by independent labs using these methods can help customers choose a truly effective product to protect their home computers,” said Oleg Ishanov, Director of Anti-Malware Research at Kaspersky Lab.
The updated version of Kaspersky Internet Security 2014 was presented in late August and features new security technologies that enable it to combat malware more effectively.
Kaspersky Lab’s technologies often place the company’s products at the top of comparative test rankings. In September, the independent lab AV-Comparatives named Kaspersky Internet Security 2014 one of the best security products for home computers. Over the course of the year, Kaspersky Lab products have earned several other high rankings from industry leaders such as AV-TEST, MRG Effitas, and others.
