Kaspersky Lab announces that its newly released personal product, Kaspersky Internet Security 2010, is awarded the highest possible rating, 10+, in recent comparative tests.
Kaspersky Lab, a leading developer of secure content management systems, announces that its latest personal product, Kaspersky Internet Security 2010, has achieved a top result in testing conducted by Matousec Transparent Security, a respected test laboratory.
The new integrated solution released by Kaspersky Lab at the end of June in the European region passed its very first testing with flying colors. In a series of tests carried out by Matousec - Transparent Security, the product reached the top level of 10+, which corresponds to “Excellent” protection status. The solution achieved the top score (96% over 84 tests) among the Internet Security products tested.
The new impressive success of Kaspersky Lab’s flagship product was achieved through two of the main protection components included in Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 – the activity filtering (HIPS) module and the firewall.
Analyses conducted by Matousec - Transparent Security are among the most technologically advanced of all existing tests. Products are evaluated based on criteria which are beyond the scope of other authoritative tests, such as those carried out by AV-Test and AV-Comparatives. Products are tested at several consecutive levels. To move on to the next level, an application must achieve at least 50% at the current level. The highest possible test result is level 10+, which means that all the ten testing levels were passed successfully.
“Good results produced in the Matousec testing are very important for developers of anti-malware systems since the Proactive Security Challenge test analyzes aspects of the real-life behavior demonstrated by today’s malicious programs,” says Kaspersky Lab CTO Nikolay Grebennikov. “The results of this test clearly demonstrate the improved stability of our new product.”
Matousec tested a total of 42 different Internet security and personal firewall products. Testing was conducted on the Windows XP Service Pack 3 platform. antivirus products underwent multi-level testing comprising more than 80 individual tests. The main tests included the general bypassing test, which determines the ability of security solutions to block the most sophisticated methods used by malicious code to penetrate the system and mask its presence, and the leak test, which evaluates a product's ability to act as the ‘last line of defense’, i.e., to prevent the theft of the client’s data if all other methods of protection (proactive, heuristic, signature-based, behavior-based) have failed. Other tests conducted included the spying (data interception) test, which is an important indicator of an antivirus solution's reliability, and the termination test, which shows how well antivirus products withstand attempts to terminate their operation and to damage their processes and files.
