In issue #165, May 2000, the Spanish Edition of PC World (www.idg.es/pcworld/) published the results of a comparative test of the most popular anti-virus products in Spain. According to the aggregate indicator the absolute winner was Kaspersky Lab AntiViral Toolkit Pro (AVP).
"This is the second consecutive time that the prestigious IT publication PC World has rated AVP the best anti-virus software available," said Eugene Kaspersky, Head of Anti-Virus Research at Kaspersky Lab Int. "We are happy to announce that the excellent results AVP showed during the test confirm that our users made an excellent choice when they selected AVP to protect their PCs and networks".
Comparative tests were based on estimating the following characteristics of anti-virus products: protection against different types of malicious code (including viruses, worms and Trojan Horses), functionality, quality of technical support, price, ease of use etc. According to the aggregate indicator AVP showed the best result scoring 8.3 out of 10 points. AVP outclassed every other anti-virus in the test including McAfee VirusScan (8.0 points), Panda Antivirus (8.0), Trend Micro PC-Cillin (7.5), F-Secure Anti-Virus (7.3), Sophos Anti-Virus (7.0) and Norton AntiVirus (7.0).
