Kaspersky Lab, a leading developer of secure content management solutions and sponsor  of Scuderia Ferrari, presents Kaspersky Internet Driving Academy (KIDA), an exciting new racing car project. Any Internet user can take part, and the finalists will get the chance to drive a Formula car on a real race track.

KIDA will consist of three main selection stages – a theory test, virtual driving practice, then – for the finalists – an exclusive two-day private stage with the Ferrari Driver Academy at the Ferrari’s Fiorano circuit. The competition, reserved for Russia, will run until October 2012.

Anyone with Internet access can get basic theoretical knowledge on how to safely drive a racing car from Kaspersky’s dedicated site www.kasperskymotorsport.com/KIDA. It offers 10 video training classes to introduce participants to driving strategy, safe driving in various weather conditions, telemetry etc.

Participants can join the theory stage of the selection process by registering on the contest website using their activation codes for Kaspersky Internet Security Special Ferrari Edition. Each contestant then logs on to his or her account and takes a quiz consisting of 30 questions which test knowledge of racetracks, tactics and strategy and the handling of different types of racing cars. A certain amount of time is allowed for each question. The top 30 participants who complete the test correctly and in the shortest time will move on to the second stage.

The next stage of the selection process is a race on a virtual circuit. The top scorers from the first stage will be invited to Moscow to compete on a racing simulator. To have the best chance of success, would-be racers are encouraged to train on the Ferrari Virtual Academy simulator built into Kaspersky Internet Security Special Ferrari Edition as well as study the driving lesson videos. Three finalists will be determined based on the results of these virtual races.

The three best participants get the chance to spend two days in collaboration with the Ferrari Driving Academy, learning to drive a Formula  racing car at Fiorano Circuit, the famous Ferrari test track in,Italy. The winner of the final stage will be declared Kaspersky Motorsport’s new driver and invited by Kaspersky Lab to compete in competitive races.

“KIDA is the first and only initiative to provide Internet training for safe motor racing. As the project is Internet-based anyone can participate and try to realize their dream of getting behind the wheel of a legendary racing car,” said Alexander Moiseev, General Manager Italy & Mediterranean at Kaspersky Lab, and Kaspersky Motorsport team driver in the Ferrari Challenge Europe series.

The project will be launched in June 2012. In its first year, KIDA will only be available to Russian Internet users. More information about the initiative can be found on Kaspersky Lab’s special site www.kasperskymotorsport.com and on YouTube channel www.youtube.com/KasperskyMotorsport, which are dedicated to motorsport projects and the company’s collaboration with Scuderia Ferrari, and on social networking sites www.facebook.com/KasperskyMotorsport and www.twitter.com/kl_motorsport.
