The mwcollect.org team and Kaspersky Lab proudly announce the first release of mwcollectd v4, a next-generation low-interaction malware collection honeypot.
Though written in C++, the easy integration of additional Python modules enables malware researchers all over the world to easily extend the honeypot with new features and protocols.
mwcollectd is published under the LGPL license, mainly developed by Georg Wicherski (Virus Analyst at Kaspersky Lab), and Mark Schloesser (RWTH Aachen University) and sponsored by Kaspersky Lab. Researchers who are interested in exploring the possibilities of this new open source tool, are welcome to take a look at http://code.mwcollect.org/projects/show/mwcollectd and at http://libemu.carnivore.it for libemu, which is used by mwcollectd.
