Kaspersky Lab provides information on current trends in gaming malware and identity theft
From 18th to 22nd August, Kaspersky Lab will be exhibiting at the gamescom 2010 in Cologne. The IT security experts will set up shop in Hall 9.1, Booth A041 of the Consumer Area, and in Hall 5.2, Booth H20 of the Business Center, where they will provide information on the current malware threats facing gamers and on identity theft.
Kaspersky Lab will also demonstrate its current end-user product portfolio to gamescom visitors. Kaspersky Internet Security 2011, for example, features a Game Mode that enables players to enjoy uninterrupted gameplay while still running an effective virus protection solution.
“Several years ago, Cybercriminals began trading in virtual treasures from online role-playing games”, explains Christian Funk, virus analyst at Kaspersky Lab, describing the malware situation in the gaming sector. “And not without reason: selling these stolen virtual goods is extremely lucrative.”
Media Events
At the press breakfast (Wednesday, 18th August, 10 A.M) Christian Funk will give a presentation entitled “The rise and fall of online gaming fraud”, explaining why and how the Cybercrime scene has set its sights on gamers. This media event will be held in English in the Congress-Centrum Nord (Rheinsaal 5/6). Christian Funk will also be available for individual interviews.
On the evening of Wednesday 18th August, from 8pm onwards, Kaspersky Lab and Koch Media invite you to attend a Beach Party on the Monkey's Island Beach & Boat, located at Konrad-Adenauer-Ufer 31 in Cologne. Enjoy a relaxing atmosphere under the palm trees as you round off the first day of the exhibition with food, drinks and chill-out tunes.
