A system administrator's personal experience
The popular American Internet resource BSDatwork.COM has published a detailed survey of Kaspersky Anti-Virus for FreeBSD, based on personal use of the product by a person, who is both a system administrator and a member of the FreeBSD user club in San Diego (SDBUG), California.
As the survey's author correctly notes, use of FreeBSD as an e-mail server is becoming more widespread, and in connection with this is the necessity of using an adequate anti-virus. Nevertheless, the choice available to users is not that large: today, only a few anti-virus developers offer an anti-virus for this platform.
The choice in favor of using Kaspersky Anti-Virus was made following comparisons of other companies' anti-virus products. Kaspersky Anti-Virus for FreeBSD turned out to be the optimal solution, satisfying the need for corporate network e-mail defense. In addition to the general program functioning being outlined, particularly the technical perfection and scanner speed, the possibility of installing the Anti-Virus on Qmail, Exim, Sendmail, and Postfix was also noted.
In the survey's conclusion, the author summarizes: "I consider Kaspersky Anti-Virus to be an excellent product...it sets itself apart by its fast operating speed and high level of defense against malicious programs. At this time, it is the best I have seen for FreeBSD anti-virus defense."In order to read the full article and discuss it, go to this link: http://www.bsdatwork.com/reviews.php?op=showcontent&id=1
