Kaspersky Lab, a leading developer of secure content management solutions, announces the official opening of the company’s regional office in Bucharest, Romania. The new office will provide operation management and sales support for Kaspersky Lab products in Romania and Bulgaria. Teodor Cimpoesu was appointed Head of Regional office Kaspersky Lab in Romania. Previously, Teodor was the company’s business development manager in Romania.
In the first three quarters of 2008, sales in Romania increased by 260% compared to the same period last year. According to experts, Kaspersky Lab’s current share of the local AV market is between 5 and 7%. “From the beginning of the year we have managed to considerably increase the volumes of sales of home user products and products for small and medium businesses”, says Teodor Cimpoesu. “In 2009 we estimate that our share of the market will increase to 10%”.
Currently, 5 people are working in the Romanian office, including marketing and sales specialists and technical experts. Costin Raiu, a well-known world expert in IT security who has been cooperating with Kaspersky Lab since 2001, is also a part of the team. By the end of 2009 the staff will be increased by up to 10 people.
