Kaspersky Lab has become an online sponsor for the UK Met Office

Kaspersky Lab has become an online sponsor for the UK Met Office. As the UK’s National Weather Service, the Met Office is world-renowned for its scientific excellence in weather forecasting, environment and climate monitoring - providing advanced warnings for the protection of life and property.

Following the launch of online advertising earlier this year, Kaspersky Lab is one of a select group of organisations chosen by the Met Office for the benefits its products can bring to their website’s audience. Sam Blake of the Met Office states, “Kaspersky Lab will be sponsoring one of the most popular sections of the site, our rainfall radar. The rainfall radar shows users real time images of rainfall in their area. The Met Office and Kaspersky Lab have worked closely to produce a campaign that offers maximum visibility while bringing relevant information to the site’s users.”

Managing Director of Kaspersky Lab UK and Ireland, Malcolm Tuck comments: “Our support for the Met Office reflects our mutual goals to forewarn and protect the public, be they meteorological threats, or in the case of Kaspersky Lab, the risks of digital pollution and cybercrime.”

With four million unique users each month (and severe weather conditions increasing traffic dramatically), advertising on the Met Office site gives select brands the potential to reach one of the largest audiences through a public sector website in the UK and is the first government site to allow sponsorship advertising. Founded in 1854 as part of the Board of Trade, the Met Office is now a Trading Fund within the Ministry of Defence (MoD) and is one of the world’s leading weather forecast centres and a world leader in climate-change research.

As online sponsors, Kaspersky Lab receives permanent branding on the homepage and around the rainfall radar, supported by a run of site advertising.

Kaspersky Lab’s latest home-user products, Kaspersky Internet Security 2011 and Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2011, are designed to protect the whole family from the threats of Identity Theft and cybercriminals. With Kaspersky Internet Security 2011, parents are able to restrict their children’s access to social networking sites, instant messaging and specific computer programs. It also filters inappropriate content from instant messaging, email and social networking sites and prevents children sending personal data out. In addition, it enables parents to control access to the computer and to limit file downloads and the transfer of personal data.
