Andreas Lamm, 1966-2011
Andreas Lamm, who most recently was Managing Director of Kaspersky Lab Europe, passed away at the University of Regensburg Hospital on Saturday, July 2, after battling a long and serious illness. Kaspersky Lab would like to express its deepest sympathy to his family and friends.
On May 15, 2003, Andreas Lamm founded the German branch of Kaspersky Lab, building up the company from a one-man operation to a leader in the German-speaking retail market in just a few years. Thanks to his dynamic and tireless efforts, the company rapidly reached its current staffing level of 150 employees. Following this successful start, Andreas took over the leadership of Kaspersky Lab Europe in 2008 to drive the company’s geographical expansion forward. Under his leadership several new branches were opened, including ones in Sweden, Italy and Spain. At the same time Andreas also focused on expanding the existing branches, like those in France, the UK and Germany. As one of the company’s pioneers, he also worked very closely with its founders, Natalya and Eugene Kaspersky, most recently serving as a member of Kaspersky Lab Group’s board.
Everyone who had the privilege of working with Andreas admired him not just as a colleague and supervisor, but also – and primarily – as a wonderful personality and mentor. An expert in his field, he was always willing to provide support and assistance to anyone who needed it. He was confident without a trace of vanity, as well as being an outstanding listener and strategist. He was a true pioneering entrepreneur of Kaspersky Lab. He will be remembered by all of his colleagues not just as a superb manager, but also as a friend.
Andreas Lamm was born in Eichstätt, West Germany, in 1966. He received a Diploma in Electrical Engineering from the Regensburg University of Applied Sciences, and his Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt. He also obtained Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification. Before joining Kaspersky Lab Andreas held various leadership positions at companies like maxiBIT, Trusted Information Systems and Network Associates, as well as at Articon-Integralis AG, where he served as Technical Director.
